Victor Ramdin wins $10,000 Buy-in Main Event at the Foxwoods Poker Classic
|
The final table of the Foxwoods Poker Classic was setting up to be quite a
battle. The six finalist had fought through a field of 431 player to have a
chance of winning the first prize of $1,331,889. The remaining contestants
were a mix of a pro player and internet poker guru, along with some
unfamiliar faces that were not intimidated in the least bit.
The players were not afraid to mix it up early on during the action. It took
only 40 minutes and 17 hands for both Bruce Kater and John Russell to be
eliminated. Play then tightened up a bit. It wasn’t until hand 91 that Larry
Klur was sent to the rail. He was all in with A-7 against the pocket fours of
Ed Jordan. Klur caught an ace on the flop but Jordan got runner runner to
make a straight.
Coming into the final table, Ed Jordan was the chip leader. However, Jordan
was unable to capitalize on that chip lead. Just ten hands after eliminating
Larry Klur, Jordan himself was knocked out by Alex Jacob.
That led to a heads up confrontation between internet poker guru Alex
“Yahtzem” Jacob and top poker pro Victor Ramdin. Jacob held the chip lead
when they started heads up play. However, the two got all of their chips in
the middle quickly and Ramdin doubled through when his pocket nines held
up against Jacob’s A-K.
Just two hands later, Jacob moved all in with K-J and was called by Ramdin
with A-J. Jacob was unable to improve and was eliminated. Alex Jacob
earned $655,507 for his second place finish.
Victor Ramdin had waited a long time to make a World Poker Tour final table.
Once he made one, he made the best of it. For his first place finish, Victor
Ramdin earned $1,331,889 and an entry to the $25,000 WPT Championship
at the Bellagio. More importantly, Victor Ramdin had earned the title of
champion of the Foxwoods Poker Classic.
